fashionexpress asked: I just wanted to ask how you actually started blogging and how you actually manage to pay for all the clothes you have and your travel fares :) because I'm in constant awe at all your photographs because of your amazing clothes and the places you go to! x
(This answer might take care of about half my inbox, ha ha!)
I first started blogging when I was travelling, as a travel diary of where i was going. When posting photos of myself I started getting enquiries as to where I purchased my clothes, which are mainly vintage I collect while travelling and mixed with Australian designer labels. I started answering questions and writing recommendations on where to shop around the world that I had been to, and how I would wear whatever I find. When I was at home I sold all of my clothes I had collected, and crazily enough it paid for my next trip overseas. (I think people assume I have a huge wardrobe- but I just have a high turn over in recycling and buying recycled clothes for cheaper) Personally, I would rather see the world than wear expensive clothes. Each piece I buy or wear on Tuula usually has a story from somewhere I’ve been!
When I got home I was invited to some labels press showings, events and Sydney Fashion Week. My readers and traffic continued to grow and I just cautiously approached to make my blog as my job, not hobby. Tumblr sent me to NYFW last September where I made a lot of contacts, and I am heading back there from this Saturday where who knows what will happen.
I hope that my readers can take from my blog that even if you are unsure of what you are doing, or where it will go, just have unwavering faith and commitment and something great will come in time. Doors will open and some will close, just enjoy and make the most of it all.
Xx
