I recently had a revelation that I need to do something with my wardrobe dilemma I think a lot of girls can relate to- an overflowing wardrobe but somehow nothing to wear. My racks are full of extremely random statement pieces in bold colours and clashing textures, that can be worn well in a single way- but don’t mix well with the rest of my wardrobe. Instead of making unnecessary purchases of under $100 that make you feel like you’ve scored a bargain, I’ve saved for a few I’ve been literally drooling over for the last 12 months (aka this PS11, my forever dream bag…) by listing things on eBay and selling at markets saving up for the more ‘curated wardrobe’ which this outfit is my first result of. I bought this Acne silk black maxi dress back in New York on my first visit to Barneys, and have worn countless times in so many ways, that makes it feel like a bargain. It has splits down the back that turn it from a daytime silk sack with flat sandals to subtle suggestive at night with heels.

I have completed surprised myself and gone for something pink. Maybe it is fuchsia. Neon popping fuchsia that is so bright it kind of hurts my eyes, but in a good way? If that can possibly make any sense. I usually stay clear of any pink but because these wide leg beauties are so amazing I figure having the pink located on my legs is as far away from my blonde hair as it is ever going to get. And it is a refreshing change to jump outside my comfort zone, funny that I do it all the time in regards to travel and life but when it comes to my wardrobe it is purely reliable safety pieces. I’ve taken the possible severity of the pink pants down with this surprisingly cheap leather peplum top I picked up from H&M while in NYC, it goes with absolutely everything which I prove to myself by wearing it every other day.

It is suddenly autumn here in Sydney, which means wardrobe revaluating for beautiful blue skies with the crisp cold breeze. This is my usual ‘running around the city doing errands wear’ of a chunky knit over pastel skinnies, but brought to life by my new favourite wardrobe addition. I’ve never been a shoe person, or accessories at all to be honest but I’m learning! I can only assume from being so tall I’ve always been hesitant about any form of heel making me tower over everyone in a room. Or the fact that they are always so adorable on the store shelf in those miniature makes, but look like clown shoes when I see them in my size. But now I understand why so many women lust over heels- when I saw these Zimmermann beauties I could not fault them at all and actually feel more confident wearing them… very rare for me! My obsession for mint is obviously catered for, but the subtle gold metal heel and buckle detail finish them off perfectly. Can’t wait to wear them in over Sydney Fashion week that is just around the corner.

You may have noticed that a few Australian bloggers including myself have teamed up with Pedestrian.tv for Myer’s Miss Shop Blogger Project, including international blogger Fashiontoast’s Rumi Neely who I was lucky enough to share shooting day with. My “Luxe Grunge” story of Miss Shop’sAutumn Winter collection featuring my favourite chunky bobble knit and sheer flowing tops were shot on a shipwreck in Sydney by photography extraordinaire Nirrimi Firebrace. I’ve been wanting to meet and work with Nirrimi ever since I first discovered her work, and loved spending hours getting to know her genuine, gypsy self while exploring and daydreaming in the shipwreck.
